The Medical City for Military and Security Services (MCMSS) in Muscat, Oman is a Tertiary/Quaternary Care level city providing services to patients of different age groups in different specialties.

Education/Qualifications:

• BSc in Nursing + Post Graduate Diploma in Surgical Nursing + > 3 years’ experience in the area of specialty.
• BSc in Nursing + > 5 years’ experience in the area of specialty.
• Valid BLS + ACLS
• Prometric exam passed in OMSB and Data flow.

Experience Post-Qualifications:

• Specialized Surgical Nurse + > 3 years
• Non-specialized + > 5 years

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Systematically assesses, triage patients and allocate them to the appropriate treatment area.
• Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient care plans for all Surgical cases.
• Monitors patient’s vital signs and initiates whenever the patient displays adverse symptoms.
• Prepares, administers and records prescribed medications; and reports adverse reactions to medications.
• Proves knowledge of nursing care methods, procedures, and surgical care.
• Assists with the insertion or discontinuation of central venous catheters, arterial lines, chest drains and endotracheal tubes.
• Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients, such as ventilators, ECG, ABG and analyses lab results.
• Involves in education and teaching of patients and caregivers.
• Adheres to policies, guidelines, plans and programs of MCMSS.
• Performs all duties assigned to his designation.
• Performs all relevant interventions related to his/her field of specialization.
• Completes and maintains her/ his set of clinical privileges.
• Performs other duties as assigned/directed by the chairperson / head of the department.

Salary will be based upon qualifications, experience and availability of vacancies, using Oman Medical Bylaw.
