Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The SPE (Supplier Performance Engineer) develops and maintains relationships with suppliers to ensure they are executing our purchase orders in accordance with TE Grid AD&M requirements.
  • Participate in the company initiative to expand the supply base globally.
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders (internal & external) for sustained annual performance targets across quality, delivery, and cost with nominated critical poor-performing suppliers.
  • Primary Activities
  • Drive supplier selection, defined by the Strategic Sourcing Plan, through robust qualification processes.
  • Support, collect, evaluate, and perform audit requests from the product lines.
  • Confers with suppliers and analyzes supplier questions to determine factors affecting performance (quality, delivery, and cost).
  • Perform periodic & surveillance supplier audits and coordinate supplier self-assessments as required.
  • Evaluates supplier quotes and services to determine if they are compatible with company objectives and supplier capacities & capabilities.
  • Identify competency gaps within the supply chain process by analysis of Key Performance Indicators and intelligence gathering to develop, introduce, and lead supplier improvement plans.
  • Works with product lines and global commodity leaders to address critical issues related to customer needs and supplier performance.

CRITICAL EXPERIENCE

  • Good knowledge of manufacturing processes such as mold design, stamping, and machining.
  • Experience in handling measurement equipment as a gauge to CMM.
  • Capable of drawing, reading & understanding the impact of tolerance w.r.t. manufacturability.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Previous SAP experience or training is a plus.
  • Ability for periodic travel required

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE

  • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent with a supply chain background.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment with minimal supervision.
  • Minimum 3+ years of professional experience with expertise in commodities, viz., machining, sheet metal, injection molding, die-casting, and plating.
  • Supply base knowledge with expertise in the procure-to-pay process (P2P).

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Strong background in supplier development roles, SCM, and lean practices.
  • Experience in using value stream mapping and implementing TEOA tools, such as:
  • 5S+1
  • Visual Factory
  • Standard Work
  • Quick Changeover
  • Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM)
  • QCPC
  • Problem Solving (8d, 5 Why, Fishbone, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels, from shop floor employees to top management.
