This is an exceptional opportunity for an educator who wants to make a difference in a small, progressive district. Current Superintendent, Mark Platt, is retiring on June 30, 2026 after 13 years of exemplary service.Hart Public Schools is a district serving 1,192 students in four schools on an attractive single campus in the center of Hart, Michigan. The district takes great pride in its staff and students, with strong curriculum initiatives, an excellent program for English Language Learners (ELL), cutting-edge technology, and a strong performing arts program with soon-to-be-renovated facilities after the passing of a successful bond.This is only the preliminary posting; a detailed profile of the ideal candidate will be added later.

Location –

The Hart Public School district is located along the shores of Lake Michigan in Oceana County. It is situated along the U.S. 31 corridor about 30 minutes north of Muskegon and about 20 minutes south of Ludington.The district is largely agricultural with an abundance of vegetable farms and orchards. With Silver Lake, the Mears State Park, Hart and Pentwater Lakes, the Pentwater River and numerous other lakes and rivers in the area, Hart is an important tourism hub as recreational opportunities abound.

The Hart Public School District serves students in four buildings: Hart High School, Hart Middle School, Spitler Elementary School, and the Diman-Wolf Early Childhood Center. All buildings are located within the City of Hart.The Hart Public School District is a constituent of the West Shore Educational Service District which offers Dual Enrollment, Early College, and Career and Technical Education to Hart students.

Compensation & Contract

The Board will offer a comprehensive, multi-year contract. Compensation will be commensurate with experience of the successful candidate and requirements of the position. A preliminary salary range of $120,000 to $140,000 has been established.
