Subject Matter Expert - Project Safety

As a Safety Subject Matter Expert reporting to the Project Head of the Domestic Chlor Alkali Business, your primary function will be to design safety policies and associated practices to ensure the safety of all employees, contractors, temporary workers, and others affected by the project operations. Your responsibilities will include designing a safety policy in accordance with ABG Safety Standards, conducting training programs for site leads and teams, implementing risk management procedures, and ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe working environment. You will be responsible for providing adequate training to the project team, contractors, and temporary workers, designing and implementing an emergency preparedness plan, and chairing the Project Safety Committee. Additionally, you will report regularly to the Project Head on ongoing safety activities, align project activities with safety requirements, conduct training on health and safety matters, and investigate root causes of accidents to implement corrective actions. Your role will also involve reviewing and updating safety plans, policies, and procedures on a regular basis, conducting safety inspections and audits on job sites, and ensuring a culture of safety is encouraged among the team and contractors. You will stay up to date with changes in legislation related to health and safety and provide recommendations to project teams regarding job site hazards, employee training, equipment operation, and material utilization. Furthermore, you will support project sites in identifying potential hazards, implementing corrective measures, and fostering a culture of learning, innovation, and creativity within the safety function. Your role will contribute to enhancing safety practices on site and creating a safe working environment for all individuals involved in the project.,
