Route selection and survey utilisation
- Interpret and utilise topographical, LiDAR and conventional survey data for preliminary and detailed route selection, considering ROW, environmental, crossing and constructability constraints.
- Work with and validate plan & profile drawings as the primary basis for line design, tower positioning and clearance assessment.
Line modelling and optimisation (PLS-CADD)
- Develop accurate 3D line models in PLS-CADD, incorporating terrain, conductors, OPGW/earthwire and structure libraries.
- Perform tower spotting, span optimisation, statutory and electrical clearance checks, and sagtension calculations under governing weather and loading conditions.
Structural design and verification (PLS-TOWER / TOWER)
- Transfer and manage structural loads from PLS-CADD into PLS-TOWER/TOWER, carry out member force analysis, section selection and code checks for all normal and exceptional load cases.
- Design and verify various tower and gantry configurations (suspension, tension, angle, terminal, river-crossing, multi-circuit and special structures).
Construction documentation and technical support
- Produce complete and constructible design and construction documentation including calculations, drawings, schedules and reports in accordance with project requirements.
