Structural Designer

Job Purpose

a Structural Designer 3D Tekla modeler

The Structural Designer is an employee responsible for Issuing the execution documentation for the scope of the Structural department of the Energy Business of John Cockerill, mainly steel structure, casing/ducting, stack, insulation works. He / She assures the delivery on time of General Arrangement, manufacturing, and erection drawings according to the milestones defined by the execution Project Teams. He / She is particularly responsible for delivering his / her work in conformity with internal quality standards as defined in the QMS (quality management system) of the Energy Business of John Cockerill.

The Structural Designer is responsible for the delivery of the execution documentation of the projects for the scope of the Structural Department under the hierarchical responsibility of the Structural Manager and the functional responsibility of the Structural Engineer with the following objectives:

• Respect for the Design Process as defined in the QMS of the Business,
• Technical conformity of the execution documentation to internal standards and contractual requirements,
• Supply of a fast and reliable service to the execution teams to respect the document and equipment contractual delivery schedules of projects.

Key Responsibilities

The duties of the Structural Designer are amongst others:

• Study of Inputs and other requirements
• Check the completeness of the input received from the Technical Project Manager to proceed with his/her work and if not, the RFI document should be created and send it to the person concerned with the project
• Issue the execution documentation (mainly all types of drawings with Tekla 3D model from

  Tekla structure 3D

  software & also in AutoCAD 2D environment whenever is required) in compliance with internal standards and contractual requirements,
• Issue the execution documentation in compliance with administrative standards,
• Issue the reports like Assembly Part list (BOM), Material list (BOQ) & bolt list etc
• Issue and update the standard technical documentation of the Structural Department,
• Keep his/her competencies updated about the needs of the Energy Sector,
• Be proactive in the continuous improvement and REX processes.

Education & Experience

• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience within an engineering context.
• Diploma or Bachelor of Civil or Mechanical Engineering

• Reports like Material lists (BOQ), Item list (BOM) & Bolt list etc.
• Knowledge of mechanical properties of structural steel elements (ASTM and EN)
• Reading technical documentation
