Job Description

A hotel steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization in a hotel's kitchen and dining areas, ensuring a hygienic environment for guests and support staff. Key duties include washing dishes and equipment, cleaning service stations, setting and clearing tables, stocking supplies, and assisting other staff with service and guest needs. Some roles may also include greeting guests, taking drink orders, and supervising junior staff. Key responsibilities

  • Cleaning and sanitation: Wash dishes, glassware, cutlery, and kitchen equipment; maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen, dining areas, and service stations; and ensure all hygiene and safety standards are met.
  • Table and event setup: Set tables with linens, cutlery, and other tableware; clean tables between guests; and assist with setting up and breaking down dining areas for events.
  • Guest and staff support: Greet and seat guests, serve water and beverages, and assist servers with tasks such as collecting food from the kitchen and presenting menus.
  • Stock and inventory: Monitor and restock service stations with supplies like napkins, utensils, and condiments; assist with unloading kitchen stock and ingredients; and take physical inventory of supplies.
  • Other duties: Dispose of waste, assist with linen coordination, and respond to guest questions or concerns, directing them to a supervisor when necessary. More senior stewards may also be involved in staff supervision, scheduling, and training.

Qualifications and skills

  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
  • Experience: Prior experience in a similar role in the hospitality industry is often preferred.
  • Skills: Strong attention to detail, good hygiene practices, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential.
  • Physical stamina: The ability to be on your feet and work flexible hours, including weekends, is necessary.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹11,000.00 - ₹14,000.00 per month
