Job Description

Job Summary

The Restaurant Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and organization in the restaurant and service areas. The role supports the food and beverage team by ensuring that all dining ware, utensils, and equipment are cleaned, sanitized, and readily available, contributing to smooth restaurant operations and excellent guest experiences.

Key ResponsibilitiesCleaning & Sanitation

  • Clean and sanitize dishes, glassware, cutlery, pots, and pans using manual and mechanical cleaning methods.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the dishwashing area, kitchen equipment, and workstations.
  • Follow proper procedures for handling cleaning chemicals and waste disposal.
  • Ensure that floors, walls, and storage areas in the back-of-house are kept clean and dry at all times.

Support to Operations

  • Ensure all service equipment is clean, polished, and ready for use during service periods.
  • Assist in setting up the restaurant or banquet areas with clean service ware.
  • Transport food, beverages, and equipment between kitchen and restaurant as needed.
  • Report any damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor immediately.

Inventory & Storage

  • Properly store clean utensils, crockery, and glassware in designated storage areas.
  • Handle all materials, tools, and supplies with care to avoid breakage and wastage.
  • Replenish cleaning supplies and assist with inventory checks when required.

Health & Safety

  • Adhere to hygiene and sanitation standards as per HACCP or local food safety regulations.
  • Wear appropriate PPE (gloves, aprons, non-slip shoes, etc.) while on duty.
  • Follow safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace.

Qualifications & Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience as a steward, kitchen helper, or cleaner in a restaurant/hotel is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation procedures.
  • Physically fit to handle standing, lifting, and carrying duties.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹16,000.00 - ₹18,000.00 per month
