Software Engineer II (Sterling Order Management)


Location: Staples India Business Innovation Hub, Chennai

Staples’ Order Management and Supply Chain Systems team enables scalable, efficient, and intelligent order and delivery solutions, and exceptional customer experience through our expertise in business domains and technologies. We are currently taking a platform re-engineering approach to consolidate, modernize, and simplify legacy applications by standardizing interfaces, building micro-services, and/or integrating with 3rd party software that’ll effectively reduce tech debt and vendor footprint, and improve time to market and service levels.




What you’ll be doing:


  • Develop and implement business and technical features on the Staples Order Management platform
  • Work with Architects to ensure the system is implemented as designed and in adherence with Shared OMS implementation guidelines.
  • Partner with business, Product teams and other domain architects to translate business requirements and vision into core OMS system capabilities
  • Provide domain expertise by recommending guidelines, methodologies, and tools through extensive interaction with other groups such as vendors, industry forums, enterprise SOA and architecture teams etc.
  • Create and evolve application documentation as required
  • Ensure that technical solutions follow best practices, are reliable, are easily maintainable.





Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in in Computer Science or Engineering (or related field).
  • 5+ years of related work experience.
  • 4+ years of experience designing and implementing IBM Sterling Commerce/Yantra using service-oriented architectures
  • 3+ years of full software development lifecycle experience including the ability to perform independent analysis
  • 3+ years of experience working with web services (SOAP/HTTP, REST),
  • 3+ years of combined experience in developing applications with relational and non-relational database technologies
  • Experience in Java 7+
  • Excellent analytical abilities and a strong intellectual curiosity
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git / SVN
  • Experience working in retail domain and developing e-commerce solutions
  • Experience in Java 8, Spring Boot, Postgres, Kafka, Couchbase, Netflix OSS, Linux,
  • Experience in building micro-services.
  • Experience in working event driven architecture.
  • Experience with cloud architecture and technologies
  • Experience working on projects using Agile methodology
