Steel Melting shop - Shift Incharge, 5 + Yrs, Ballabgarh

Urgently required Diploma / B. Tech in Metallurgical Engineering having 5-10 years of relevant experience in Steel Melting Shop operations.

Job Purpose:

• To ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective operation of the Steel Melting Shop, including Induction furnace operation/EAF/AOD/LRF/VOD/VD and bottom pouring casting, process control, manpower management, and adherence to quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operations & Process Control

• Monitor and control EAF (Electric Arc Furnace) / IF (Induction Furnace) operations.
• Ensure correct charge mix and optimize melting cycle time.
• Supervise tapping, ladle refining, and casting operations.
• Maintain process parameters to achieve targeted quality and yield.

2. Production Planning & Execution

• Execute daily/weekly production plans as per dispatch and inventory requirements.
• Ensure smooth coordination between raw material supply, melting, and downstream processes.
• Maintain shift-wise production records and reports.

3. Quality & Metallurgy

• Ensure adherence to metallurgical standards and specifications.
• Coordinate with the quality department for testing, analysis, and corrective actions.
• Analyse reasons for deviations and initiate CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions).

4. Equipment & Maintenance Coordination

• Report equipment abnormalities and support the maintenance team in breakdowns and preventive maintenance.
• Suggest improvements in equipment and layout to improve productivity.

5. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with plant safety norms and environmental regulations.
• Conduct regular toolbox talks and promote a safe working culture.
• Participate in safety audits and implement recommendations.

6. Team Management

• Supervise and train operators, shift technicians, and support staff.
• Ensure proper shift handover and logbook maintenance.
• Promote teamwork and skill development of subordinates.

Key Skills & Competencies:

• In-depth knowledge of steel melting processes (EAF/IF, LRF, CCM)
• Strong understanding of metallurgical principles
• Familiarity with refractory management and slag practices
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good communication and leadership abilities
