Job Description

Job Title: Starburst Platform Engineer Key Responsibilities As a Starburst Platform Engineer, you will: Platform Support & Reliability: Provide technical support, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the performance, availability, and reliability of the Starburst Enterprise Platform. Deployment & Configuration: Manage platform deployment and configuration on Kubernetes using Helm charts and YAML. Build and maintain Docker images for scalable deployments and integrations. CI/CD Automation: Employ GitHub Actions for streamlined CI/CD processes. User Management: Onboard users by setting up connections, catalogs, and client tools. Address user queries and incidents with timely resolution and triage. Maintenance & Optimization: Perform regular updates, patching, maintenance, application housekeeping, and access audits to ensure optimal platform performance. Scripting & Automation: Develop automation scripts using Python and GitHub pipelines to enhance operational efficiency, document workflows, and identify opportunities for innovation. Feature Development & Integration: Collaborate with development teams to design, implement, and define specifications for new features and integrations with other data product value chain systems (e.g., Immuta, Apache Ranger, Collibra, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, Redshift, Hive, Iceberg, dbt, AWS Lambda, AWS Glue, Power BI). Incident Management: Support incident management processes, including triaging and resolving technical challenges efficiently. Mandatory Skills & Experience Technical Proficiency: Platform Support: Experience supporting and maintaining applications deployed on Kubernetes using Helm charts and Docker images. Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in Python and YAML scripting for automation and configuration. CI/CD: Understanding of GitHub Actions and general CI/CD pipelines . Database Fundamentals: Understanding of RDS . Experience & Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Essential Professional Skills Excellent problem-solving skills . Ability to support users effectively . Strong verbal and written communication skills . Desirable Skills & Experience Experience working with Kubernetes (k8s) . Knowledge of data and analytical products like Immuta, Apache Ranger, Collibra, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, Redshift, Hive, Iceberg, dbt, AWS Lambda, AWS Glue, and Power BI . Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS . Knowledge of additional scripting languages or tools. Exposure to Starburst or other data virtualization technologies like Dremio, Trino, Presto, and Athena.
