Standard Room Engineer (CMM)

Role & responsibilities

• Operate and program

  CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine)

  for dimensional inspection of components and assemblies.
• Manage

  calibration of measuring instruments, gauges, and fixtures

  ; maintain calibration records and schedules.
• Conduct

  mechanical testing

  (tensile, hardness, impact, etc.) as per standards and customer requirements.
• Perform

  welding depth penetration testing

  and prepare reports for process validation.
• Ensure

  traceability and accuracy

  of all measurement and testing equipment.
• Develop and maintain

  standard room procedures, work instructions, and calibration methods

  .
• Analyze measurement data, generate inspection reports, and share with design, process, and customer teams.
• Support

  APQP/PPAP dimensional validation

  for new products.
• Coordinate with external calibration agencies and ensure compliance with

  NABL / ISO standards

  .
• Train operators and engineers on proper usage of gauges and measuring instruments.
• Drive continual improvement in

  measurement accuracy, repeatability, and testing methods

  .
• Ensure

  audit readiness

  (IATF 16949, customer audits) for standard room and calibration systems.

Skills & Competencies:

• Expertise in

  CMM programming & operation

  (Zeiss, Hexagon, Mitutoyo, or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge of

  GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and drawing interpretation

  .
• Knowledge of

  calibration standards (ISO/IEC 17025, NABL)

  and gauge R&R studies.
• Hands-on experience with

  mechanical testing equipment

  and welding depth penetration analysis.
• Familiarity with

  quality tools

  : MSA, SPC, PPAP, APQP.
• Strong analytical skills, precision orientation, and problem-solving ability.
• Good communication and documentation/reporting skills.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanic/ Electrical / Electronic.
• 36 years’ experience in

  Standard Room / Metrology / Calibration

  in the automobile sector.
• Hands-on experience in

  CMM, calibration, and mechanical testing

  is mandatory.
• Exposure to

  OEM / Tier-1 environment

  preferred.
