About Team:

The Reliability Engineering and Operations

(REO) team is uniquely positioned to run programs and functions that focuses on ensuring the reliability of Walmart's services across eCommerce/Store/Omni Channel operations. The team currently supports US, & various International Markets (Ex: CA, MX, Chile, South Africa) providing Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Performance Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering & Holiday Readiness.As a Staff Technical Program Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing problem management projects which are focused on addressing critical issues in the production environment. You will collaborate with cross functional teams, including Engineering, Product management and Operations, to ensure successful completion of Problem Management efforts. You will have a key role to play in driving the strategic initiatives of the organization using your expertise in program management, and technical understanding of domains areas across IT Service Management, Site Reliability Engineering.Program Planning & Development:
  • Lead and manage complex, large-scale, cross functional technical programs from initiation to completion.
  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables while aligning them with the overall strategic objectives
  • Foster effective collaboration among all team members on the program objectives and timelines.
  • Drive continuous improvement by implementing best practices, ways of working in a changing and dynamic environment to improve program efficiency.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies and program management practices and incorporate them in your day-2-day work for driving results.

Technical Expertise:

  • Engage in end-to-end discussions for high- level system /solution design of systems and demonstrates an understanding of design choices for scalability, high availability, and performance.
  • Direct the identification, investigation, reporting, and follow-up for resolution of defects/bugs raised during testing processes or post-production.
  • Independently clarify requirements with engineering through verbal, written, or diagrams.
  • Ensure effective roll-forward and roll-back plans are in place for every production change
  • Independently identify patterns and explores possible solutions to leverage existing capabilities and technology strategies to avoid duplications.
  • Propose frameworks, tools, and methodologies that can be adopted to drive automation across initiatives.

Leveraging Domain Knowledge:

  • Validate requirements and technology decisions that impact business processes.
  • Identify areas of innovation across subdomains, shares potential innovations with the leadership team, and drives initiatives.
  • Demonstrate an awareness of new processes and automation techniques used within a domain across industries.

Deliver Program and Results:

  • Independently monitor and evaluate the progress of multiple projects in a program against approved milestones, quality metrics, and timelines.
  • Identify issues, potential risks and setbacks, and implement mitigation strategies in a timely and effective manner.
  • Effectively negotiate against timelines, resources, and priorities to secure commitments.
  • Implement and improve the prioritization of program deliverables and milestones.

Influential Communication for Alignment:

  • Ensure proactive and effective communication on program progress, key metrics and regular updates to all stakeholders.
  • Independently prepare clear, concise, logically structured, and meaningful reports/materials using relevant data.
  • Communicate complex information to large and diverse audience verbally in small/large meetings, as well as through written emails and artifacts.
  • Ensure program documents are complete, current and available for staff and leadership review.

Analytical Problem Solving:

  • Map deliverables, features, and milestones to program success metrics.
  • Synthesize and converge data from multiple vantage points (for example, engineering excellence, product analytics, program success) into meaningful insights.
  • Use fact-finding techniques, diagnostic tools, and judgment to identify and break down business problems.

Program Stakeholder Management:

  • Independently engage with the identified program stakeholders based on defined cadence to align and share regular updates.
  • Independently build relationships with program stakeholders and aligns stakeholders on roles, responsibilities, ways of working, and cadences at various stages of program execution.
  • Independently ensure that all dependent teams and stakeholders have accurate and thorough understanding of different stakeholder perspectives and overall project goals, timelines, and deliverables.

What will you'll bring:

  • BS/BE/BTECH degree in Computer Science or related fields or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 12+ years of Technical Program Management experience leading large scale complex programs.
  • Experience working with several Cross-Functional groups such as: design, product management, engineering, and business stakeholders.
  • Strong technical understanding of IT Operations, IT Service Management, Performance Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering.
  • Strong communication, & organization skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to be productive in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction. And ability to juggle multiple projects and tasks.
  • Project/Program Management & IT Service Management Education (PMP, Prince2, Agile/SAFe certifications, ITIL or Equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of collaboration and tracking tools: JIRA, Confluence, Excel, PPT, SharePoint, OneDrive, Service Now
  • Working Experience in retail industry will be an advantage (Preferred)
