Job Description

Zendesk is seeking a Staff Software Engineer (Frontend or Full-stack) to be a part of the Tasks and Approvals team within the Custom Data & Logic group. This team is responsible for developing new functionality to support the Employee Service initiative within Support. As a well-established technical leader, the ideal candidate should have a strong background in creating consistent, usable, reliable, and high-performance user experiences tailored for enterprise customers. This is a hybrid role that involves a combination of remote and on-site work, requiring 3 days in the office and relocation to Pune. In this position, you will be utilizing your software engineering expertise to provide leadership, innovation, and technical proficiency. You are expected to lead by example, exhibit strong problem-solving skills, communicate effectively, and contribute positively to the team culture. Your responsibilities will include independently leading the design, development, testing, and deployment of high-quality software solutions. You will collaborate across various teams to architect reliable, secure, performant, extensible, and scalable solutions. Effective communication of technical decisions, proactive identification and mitigation of potential issues, and prioritization of tasks to deliver value to users and the company are crucial aspects of the role. Additionally, you will participate in application improvement discussions, project initiatives, and feature design, as well as mentor and train team members to enhance collective knowledge. The successful candidate for this role should possess 10+ years of professional experience in designing, developing, testing, and deploying software in a stable and reliable manner. Strong expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript, particularly with React, GraphQL, REST APIs, JavaScript frameworks, and testing libraries is required. Experience with version control tools, continuous integration, continuous delivery pipelines, and independently leading and mentoring software engineers are essential qualifications. Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills are also necessary. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with designing GraphQL and REST APIs, micro frontends, federation architectures, Ruby on Rails, and relational data stores. Knowledge of Zendesk and experience with the mentioned tech stack are advantageous.
