Staff Engineer, Supply Chain Retail Technology

You will be joining the Fulfillment Optimization team as a Backend Software Engineer at Wayfair, which operates the largest custom e-commerce large parcel network in the United States, encompassing approximately 1.6 million square meters of logistics space. The nature of this network demands highly flexible, reliable, and resilient systems to ensure efficient operations. Your primary responsibility will involve developing platforms that optimize how customer orders are fulfilled, with a focus on maximizing Wayfair's profitability and ensuring customer satisfaction. This will entail enhancing and scaling customer-facing platforms across various stages of the customer journey, from search pages to order delivery. You will be tasked with maintaining an accurate representation of the dynamic supply chain, determining packaging configurations, predicting warehouse and transportation flows, and providing the necessary information to customers, suppliers, and carriers in real-time. As a Backend Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in shaping a multi-year technology strategy for a complex platform. You will lead multiple software development teams, overseeing all aspects of the software development life cycle, including design, implementation, delivery, and maintenance. Your responsibilities will also include managing and mentoring software engineers, attracting and retaining top talent, and fostering an inclusive and collaborative team culture. To excel in this role, you should have over 16 years of engineering experience, with a proven track record of driving software transformations in high-growth environments. You must possess expertise in making architectural and design decisions for large-scale platforms, balancing time-to-market considerations with flexibility. Additionally, you should have a strong background in managing and developing teams, designing high-scale products with exceptional user experience, and leading interdisciplinary teams in an agile setting.
