Position Summary

Staff Engineer Embedded Software

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain

  embedded application and middleware software

  on

  Linux-based platforms

• Translate system and software requirements into robust, scalable implementations
• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance for embedded software components
• Perform

  board bring-up

  , hardwaresoftware integration, and low-level system debugging
• Develop, customize, and maintain

  embedded Linux build environments

  using

  Yocto, U-Boot, CMake, and Makefiles

• Manage

  Linux patching

  , including

  cybersecurity and vulnerability updates

• Apply

  Modern C++ (C++11/14)

  best practices, object-oriented design, and design patterns
• Conduct and lead

  code reviews and design reviews

  to ensure quality, performance, and maintainability
• Implement

  test-driven development (TDD)

  practices and contribute to

  CI/CD pipelines

• Collaborate closely with hardware, systems, QA, and regulatory teams
• Mentor engineers and promote technical excellence and best practices
  

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years

  of experience in

  embedded software application and middleware development

• Strong hands-on experience with

  Embedded Linux

• Advanced proficiency in

  Modern C++ (C++11/14)

  and object-oriented programming
• Proven experience with

  Yocto, U-Boot, CMake, Makefiles

  , and

  cross-compilation environments

• Demonstrated expertise in

  board bring-up

  and

  hardwaresoftware debugging

• Solid understanding of

  TDD

  , unit testing frameworks (

  GTest, GMock, Parasoft

  ), and

  CI/CD

• Experience designing and owning software architecture for complex embedded systems
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with

  BSP and low-level interfaces

  such as SPI, I2C, UART, USB, Ethernet, PCIe, DDR, eMMC, and PMIC
• Familiarity with

  ARM-based processors

• Exposure to

  VxWorks or QNX

• Experience developing software for

  medical devices or other regulated products

• Knowledge of

  IEC 62304, FDA, or ISO software development standards

• Familiarity with configuration management, defect tracking, and requirements management tools
