Staff DBA (PostgreSQL+ Vector Database)

As a Database Administrator IV at our company, you will play a crucial role in leading our database function and evolving a modern hybrid data platform involving traditional RDBMS, search engines, and emerging vector databases. Your responsibilities will include: - Leading the design, development, and implementation of enterprise-scale database systems aligned with business goals. - Driving performance tuning, indexing, and optimization for efficient data access and low-latency operations. - Implementing and maintaining strong data security, encryption, access controls, and performing regular audits. - Owning backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity. - Proactively monitoring databases, troubleshooting issues, and minimizing downtime. - Collaborating with data engineers, data scientists, and software developers on data pipelines, analytics, and application integrations. - Mentoring and guiding junior DBAs, fostering technical growth and cross-team collaboration. - Supporting embedding refresh workflows, vector-aware governance, and search engine integration. - Staying ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, recommending improvements to the data platform. To be successful in this role, you should have: - 8-10 years of experience in database administration with expertise across relational and NoSQL systems. - Deep hands-on experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Microsoft SQL Server. - Strong SQL, query tuning, and performance optimization skills. - Solid understanding of GDPR, CCPA, and industry security best practices. - Proven experience with database backup and disaster recovery processes. - Familiarity with cloud databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, etc.). - Knowledge of vector databases, embedding workflows, semantic search, and hybrid search methods. - Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities. - Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple parallel priorities.
