Staff DBA

Role Overview: As a Database Administrator IV, you will play a crucial role in leading the database function of the company as they transition towards a modern hybrid data platform. This platform encompasses traditional RDBMS, search engines, and emerging vector databases. Your responsibilities will include driving database architecture, performance, and reliability for mission-critical systems, while also mentoring a growing team of DBAs and collaborating with stakeholders from various departments. Key Responsibilities: - Lead the design, development, and implementation of enterprise-scale database systems to align with business goals. - Drive performance tuning, indexing, and optimization to ensure efficient data access and low-latency operations. - Implement and maintain robust data security measures, encryption, access controls, and conduct regular audits. - Take ownership of backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies to guarantee business continuity. - Actively monitor databases, troubleshoot issues, and work towards minimizing downtime. - Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and software developers on data pipelines, analytics, and application integrations. - Mentor and guide junior DBAs to foster technical growth and cross-team collaboration. - Provide support for embedding refresh workflows, vector-aware governance, and search engine integration. - Keep abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, suggesting enhancements to the data platform. Qualifications Required: - 8-10 years of experience in database administration with proficiency in relational and NoSQL systems. - Extensive hands-on experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Microsoft SQL Server. - Strong skills in SQL, query tuning, and performance optimization. - Sound understanding of GDPR, CCPA, and industry security best practices. - Demonstrated expertise in database backup and disaster recovery processes. - Familiarity with cloud databases such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL, etc. - Knowledge of vector databases, embedding workflows, semantic search, and hybrid search methods. - Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. - Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple parallel priorities.,
