About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Sybase DBA to join our team on a short-term engagement, supporting a Sybase to Azure migration project. The consultant will bring deep hands-on expertise in Sybase ASE administration, database migration, performance tuning, and SQL scripting. The role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition with minimal downtime. In addition, the consultant will be responsible for process documentation and knowledge transfer to the client’s team.

Key Responsibilities

Provide expert-level administration, support, and optimization of Sybase ASE databases.

Lead and support migration activities from Sybase ASE to Azure database environments.

Develop and optimize SQL scripts, stored procedures, and queries.

Troubleshoot performance and migration-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime.

Collaborate with client teams to ensure smooth migration execution.

Document all activities, processes, and configurations for internal knowledge sharing.

Deliver knowledge transfer sessions to client’s internal teams.

Ensure partial working hours overlap with client’s team as agreed.

Maintain high-quality standards while working independently with minimal supervision.

Required Technical Skills

*Strong hands-on experience as a Sybase ASE DBA (administration, tuning, stored procedures).

*Proven experience with database migrations from Sybase to Azure (or other cloud databases).

*Proficiency in SQL scripting and troubleshooting.

*Strong problem-solving and performance optimization capabilities.

Optional / Nice-to-Have Skills

Experience as an Azure DBA (SQL DB, Managed Instance, Synapse, or other Azure DB services).

Advanced performance tuning skills in cloud database environments.

Soft Skills

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).

Strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Capable of producing clear documentation and delivering effective knowledge transfer sessions.

Interviews

*15 min HR screening, followed by technical Round.
