Sr. Product Development Technologist

As a Product Development Scientist - Seasoning at McCormick, you will play a crucial role in leading and directing the activities of the Flavous Solutions and Consumer Research and Development team. Your responsibilities will include overseeing concept and recipe development, conducting trials, ensuring factory validation, and managing commercial production. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to execute New Product Development (NPD) projects successfully will be essential. You will work closely with the R&D Director for India and SEA to allocate resources effectively for growth and profit improvement in alignment with the strategic plan. Your expertise in designing for food safety and quality will be crucial, as you guide junior team members on principles of food microbiology and shelf stability. You will be responsible for establishing product quality specifications in collaboration with the quality department, conducting shelf-life testing, and ensuring compliance with customer-specific food safety and quality requirements. In this role, you will be expected to deliver product development briefs according to customer requirements, with a sound understanding of formulation implications on the production process and product quality. You will independently set up experiments to solve problems, apply statistical analysis to determine significance of results, and provide guidance on product formulation and production process design. Additionally, you will coordinate cross-functional meetings, run production line trials, identify formulation and trial issues, and collaborate with various teams to resolve challenges. Your ability to search for relevant information, collate and report data, and understand R&D-related software and systems will be crucial for success in this role. To qualify for this position, you should have a B-Tech in Food Technology with 5-8 years of Product Development experience. Previous experience in leading product development and technical teams, particularly in Wet/Dry Seasoning development, is preferred. Proficiency in product development formulation, manufacturing techniques, and quality assurance is required for this role.
