The Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for the inspection, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of plant machinery, utilities, and equipment to ensure smooth, safe, and continuous operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance

Carry out

preventive maintenance (PM)

as per schedule for all plant equipment.

Attend

breakdown maintenance

and restore equipment with minimum downtime.

Maintain records of maintenance activities and breakdown logs.

2. Equipment & Utilities Maintenance

Maintain and repair:

Motors, pumps, compressors, gearboxes

Electrical panels, MCCs, DBs

DG sets, UPS, batteries

HVAC systems (AHU, exhaust, ventilation)

Plumbing, water supply, drainage lines

Boilers, chillers, RO/STP/ETP (if applicable)

3. Electrical & Mechanical Work

Handle basic

electrical troubleshooting

(single/three phase systems).

Perform

mechanical repairs

, alignment, lubrication, belt/chain replacement.

Replace faulty components and ensure proper installation.

4. Safety & Compliance

safety SOPs

, PPE usage, and lockout-tagout procedures.

Ensure compliance with statutory and safety norms.

Report unsafe conditions and near-miss incidents.

5. Vendor & Spare Management

Coordinate with

external vendors

for specialized repairs.

Assist in identifying and arranging

spares and consumables

Ensure proper handover after vendor work completion.

6. Documentation & Reporting

Maintain:

Maintenance checklists

Equipment history cards

Spare inventory records

Update daily work reports and escalation notes.

Required Skills & Competencies

Knowledge of

electrical, mechanical, and utility systems

Ability to read basic

drawings and wiring diagrams

Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Time management and teamwork

Basic computer knowledge (Excel / maintenance logs)

Qualification

ITI / Diploma

in Electrical / Mechanical / Fitter / Maintenance

Certification in HVAC / Electrical Safety (preferred)

Experience

2-5 years

of experience in plant, factory, kitchen, or industrial maintenance

Experience in

24x7 plant operations

is an added advantage

Working Conditions

Shift duty (including night shifts if required)

Exposure to plant equipment, noise, heat, and confined spaces
