Role & responsibilities

Senior Automation Engineer (DCS Specialist)

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, configuration, and implementation of

  DCS systems

  for pharma/process plants.
• Develop and review

  automation architecture, system specifications, and control strategies

  .
• Configure

  process graphics, control loops, interlocks, and batch automation sequences

  .
• Review

  Functional Design Specifications (FDS), HDS, and SDS

  in line with URS.
• Ensure compliance with

  GAMP5, cGMP, 21 CFR Part 11, and data integrity

  requirements.
• Support

  FAT, SAT, commissioning, and validation (IQ, OQ, PQ)

  for automation systems.
• Integrate DCS with field instruments, PLCs, SCADA, and higher-level MES/ERP systems.
• Troubleshoot complex automation and process control issues during design and execution.
• Mentor junior automation engineers and provide technical guidance on DCS projects.
• Coordinate with process, instrumentation, electrical, and validation teams for project execution.
• Ensure system cybersecurity, reliability, and adherence to corporate IT/OT standards.
• Support

  change control, deviation handling, and audit readiness

  for pharma projects.
• Review vendor proposals, perform technical bid evaluations, and ensure compliance with design standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of automation engineering practices and standards.

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Hands-on experience with

  DCS platforms

  (preferably Siemens PCS 7).
• Strong knowledge of

  batch process automation (ISA-88 / S88 standards)

  .
• Understanding of

  pharmaceutical validation lifecycle, CSV, and data integrity principles

  .
• Proficiency in control system design, troubleshooting, and advanced process control.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelors / Master’s degree in

  Automation, Instrumentation, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering

  .

• 6–7 years

  of automation experience with at least

  4+ years in DCS configuration and project execution

  .
• Experience in

  pharmaceutical / biotech / chemical / process industries

  preferred.
• Exposure to

  PLC, SCADA, and integration with MES/LIMS systems

  is an advantage.
