The Corporate Tax Team at Invesco is divided into Direct Tax and Indirect Tax compliance. The Indirect Tax team handles various activities including preparing and filing of EMEA and North America Indirect tax returns, tax accounting and reconciliations, conducting value-added analysis, and optimizing processes. This team works closely with the business, global tax teams, and external service providers to ensure efficient and accurate tax activities .
Your Role
- You will be responsible for managing and reviewing end-to-end indirect tax activities, supporting the Global Indirect Tax Manager, and acting as a subject matter expert within the team.
- In addition to handling complex compliance matters, you will play a pivotal role in training, mentoring, and upskilling junior team members, ensuring knowledge transfer and capability building across the team.
- You will work independently and collaboratively, taking ownership of critical deliverables, driving process improvements, and ensuring that all business-as-usual (BAU) and ad hoc indirect tax activities are executed efficiently, accurately, and in line with onshore expectations.
- Your proactive approach will help bridge the knowledge gap between the Global Indirect Tax Manager and the wider team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and operational excellence.
- Oversee, review, and ensure accurate and timely preparation and filing of indirect tax returns for EMEA and other assigned regions.
- Act as the primary point of contact for complex compliance queries and escalations, providing expert guidance and solutions.
- Take ownership of critical indirect tax processes, ensuring all activities meet established procedures and onshore expectations.
- Implement and monitor quality control measures to minimize errors and maintain high compliance standards.
- Foster a collaborative learning environment and encourage continuous professional development within the team.
- Work closely with the Global Indirect Tax Manager to align on priorities, share updates, and escalate issues as needed. Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams, external advisors, and tax authorities.
- Lead the preparation and coordination of documentation for internal and external audits, addressing complex queries and ensuring timely resolution. Identify, assess, and mitigate indirect tax risks, recommending and implementing process improvements.
- Continuously evaluate and improve existing tax processes, including automation and efficiency initiatives.
- Stay updated on changes in EMEA indirect tax laws and regulations, conducting research and providing expert advice to the business. Leverage advanced knowledge of ERP systems (e. g. , Oracle Cloud) and Microsoft Excel to optimize tax processes and reporting.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of tax technology solutions, ensuring data integrity and process efficiency. Actively bridge the knowledge gap between the Global Indirect Tax Manager and the rest of the team through effective knowledge transfer and support.
The Experience You Bring
- Minimum 5-6 years of hands-on experience in indirect tax compliance, with a strong focus on EMEA region regulations and requirements.
- Proven ability to independently manage and review complex tax processes, ensuring compliance and quality.
- Demonstrated experience in training, mentoring, and developing junior team members.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to non-tax professionals.
- Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (preferably Oracle Cloud) and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience working in a multinational, GBS/GCC, or Big 6 environment is highly desirable.
