Specialist Database Administrator

As a Specialist Database Administrator (SQL Server Administration) at Accelya, your role will involve designing and deploying architectures and configurations to maintain high availability in case of component or site failure. You will be responsible for developing standards for deploying and configuring Microsoft SQL Server and its dependent technologies, defining procedures for deployment on various platforms, and developing automation for consistent and efficient operation. Your key responsibilities will include: - Designing and implementing monitoring, alerting, and self-healing strategies for Accelya's growing Microsoft SQL Server platform - Upgrading databases to new versions and deploying the latest patches released by Microsoft - Training the wider database engineering teams on deployment and management of Microsoft SQL Server for 24*7 service delivery - Collaborating with software engineering teams to ensure secure, highly available, high-performing applications on Microsoft SQL Server To excel in this role, you should have: - Solid understanding of installing and configuring modern versions of SQL Server - Experience in architecting, deploying, and operating high availability and disaster recovery solutions like clustering, Log Shipping, and Always On - Ability to secure database data, simplify evidence gathering for security audits, and design monitoring and self-healing strategies - Experience in developing automation using tools like Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Salt, or Chef - Exposure to AWS and/or VMWare Cloud on AWS would be advantageous - Flexibility to support out-of-hours work and operational elements Accelya offers an environment where your work will make a difference to customers, providing opportunities for growth and career development.
