About the role:
The Solution Architect plays a pivotal role in designing and governing the technology landscape that enables Diageos global manufacturing and logistics operations. Working with the Global Architecture Lead Supply & Procurement, this role ensures that end-to-end solutions across manufacturing sites, warehouses, and logistics networks are architecturally sound, secure, and strategically aligned with Diageos enterprise vision.
Operating within the Enterprise Architect team, the role connects digital Supply transformation, ensuring solutions are scalable, integrated, and deliver measurable business outcomes. It provides architectural leadership and governance across all key strategic projects, ensuring consistency with Diageos reference architectures, security standards, and enterprise compliance frameworks.
As a trusted advisor and inspiring leader, the Solution Architect partners with Enterprise Architects, Value Stream Leads, Global Engineering, Supply Chain, and Business Technology teams to harmonize IT, OT, and logistics ecosystemsenabling smarter, more connected, and data-driven supply operations across Diageos global footprint.
Role Responsibilities:
End-to-End Solution Design & Governance
- Lead design and integration of Manufacturing IT, OT, and Logistics solutions aligned with enterprise and security standards.
- Translate business and operational needs into sustainable, site-ready solution designs for different initiatives such as smart factory, MES, Warehouse management, Transport management.
- Implement architecture governance across programs to ensure quality, compliance, and consistency & align all solutions with Diageos Enterprise Architecture, Supply Chain, and Procurement strategies.
- Ensure delivery partners follow approved designs and architectural principles and provide right forums to bring for governance
Collaboration & Influence
- Partner with Engineering, SAP, Supply Operations, Cybersecurity, Integration and Infrastructure for seamless IT/OT integration.
- Collaborate with global and regional teams to apply consistent architecture practices.
- Influence multi-functional teams to balance cost, risk, reducing technical debt and improve performance in design decisions.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Evolve the Supply especially Manufacturing IT, OT & Logistics architecture roadmap to drive efficiency and sustainability.
- Explore new technologies in automation, IIoT, and digital logistics to improve operations.
- Share standard processes and lessons learned to strengthen global delivery and architecture maturity.
Experience / skills required:
Education
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (Masters preferred).
Architecture Expertise
- 12-15 years of experience designing and delivering Manufacturing IT & OT solutions in large, global enterprises (preferably FMCG).
- Strong background in architecting digital manufacturing ecosystems across IT and OT layers (Level 05).
- Experience defining architecture standards, blueprints, and reference models for MES, LIMS, PCS/DCS, SCADA, IIoT, and data integration solutions.
- Validated experience with hybrid environments (SaaS, Cloud, and On-Premises) integrating enterprise platforms (e.g., SAP, Anaplan) with plant-floor systems.
- Knowledge of manufacturing cybersecurity frameworks, network segmentation (ISA-95, Purdue Model), and data integration patterns between IT and OT systems.
- Understanding of process and discrete manufacturing systems, PLCs, historian databases, and edge analytics.
- Have a good understanding of Digital Supply applications and Data products like Databricks to help in the future for Supply chain
- TOGAF or equivalent certification preferred.
Functional Expertise
- Significant knowledge of Supply (Plan, Make, Move technical and sustainability) within the large global organization (Preferably CPG), including Key business processes related to this area
- Experience in agile delivery methods and in working with agile delivery teams.
- Have a good working solution knowledge for SAP processes and Data lakes to ensure solutions are detailed
Technology Expertise
- Expertise in one or more of: Siemens, Rockwell Automation, OSIsoft PI, Kepware, Azure IoT, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus, etc.) and data exchange architectures.
- Experience implementing solutions with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Data Lake architectures, and IoT platforms.
- Tried understanding of cloud integration, data governance, and industrial cybersecurity.
