Responsibilities: As a Software Engineer, you apply deep experience and technical know-how in the Software Engineering domain to: Design, build and maintain multiple complex software application technologies and their interaction with Telstra processes and systems Develop innovative software that maintains data/network security management, and leverage set processes to reduce the time between commission and production Authentically engage with and influence a multi-stakeholder landscape to translate customer needs into leading-edge software application products, services or systems that meet Telstra s time, cost and quality standards Collaborate with team members and key stakeholders, seeking support, direction and buy-in to gather deep insights about the challenges and opportunities of our software application technologies and platforms Significantly contribute to continuous improvement initiatives of our systems and processes, to help define best practice corporate testing standards and drive improved outcomes (e.g. productivity, customer experience and/or profitability) Lead initiatives or components of initiatives in line with the strategic direction of your team/mission, that have a significant degree of impact to the function or cross-functionally Take ownership of your own actions and decisions to drive positive outcomes within your team/mission, and provide guidance to more junior engineers in order to support their development and contribution to team/mission outcomes Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated DevOps Release Engineer to join our team supporting key Telstra initiatives. This role demands a strong background in CI/CD tools, containerization, cloud platforms, and infrastructure automation. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing and optimizing DevOps pipelines and environments at scale, with a passion for automation, efficiency, and reliability. Key Responsibilities: Ensure that all aspects of the release, including testing completion, deployment to pre-production environments, release regression testing and security sign-offs are completed satisfactorily before deployment to production. Coordination with development, testing and mission teams to verify that the scope planned for deployment aligns with the sprint goals and meet quality standards. Identify and manage dependencies between different components or teams to mitigate risks associated with the release Develop contingency plans and mitigation strategies to address potential issues or delays that may arise during the release process. Maintain a comprehensive runbook documenting all necessary steps and procedures for deployment. Provide support for GTM Activities. Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab, Jenkins , and Bamboo . Build and maintain container images using Docker, Kaniko , and Buildah . Operate and support multi-cloud environments including AWS, Azure , and PCF (Pivotal Cloud Foundry) . Troubleshoot and optimize GitLab environments and pipelines, ensuring system reliability and performance. Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to ensure best practices and compliance in deployment processes. Contribute to system architecture, security design, and performance tuning. Required Skills Experience: 5+ years of experience with CI/CD tools ( GitLab, Jenkins, Bamboo ). 3+ years of hands-on experience with orchestration tools ( Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, Rancher, EKS ). 3+ years of experience with cloud platforms ( AWS, PCF, Azure ). Strong experience in GitLab operations and CI/CD pipeline debugging. Excellent scripting and automation skills (e.g., Bash, Python, Shell). Good understanding of DevSecOps principles and practices.
