Software Development Test Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Review and analyze business and system specifications to ensure complete test coverage.
• Design, write, and execute manual and automated test cases for web, mobile, and backend modules.
• Develop and maintain automation test suites using tools like Selenium, TestNG, and related frameworks.
• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and DevOps teams to define test strategies and test plans.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, and system testing across releases.
• Analyze test execution results, identify root causes, and track defects through resolution.
• Validate backend services built on Ruby on Rails, frontend applications in React.js, and mobile apps in Kotlin & Swift.
• Perform code-level verification and API validation where required.
• Be responsible for production system health, smoke testing, and post-release monitoring.
• Create detailed test logs, defect reports, and QA sign-off reports.
• Execute post-release and post-implementation testing to ensure platform stability.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the entire SDLC.
• Support and maintain CI/CD pipelines and understand Jenkins job executions for automation runs.

Required Skills & Technical Expertise

• Strong experience as a QA Engineer / SDET with ownership of both manual and automation testing.
• Good hands-on knowledge of:

Selenium, Java, TestNG

Jenkins (CI/CD pipelines)

Maven lifecycle

Git & version control workflows

• Solid understanding of automation frameworks and software testing life cycle (STLC).
• Experience with Agile frameworks, sprint testing, and regression testing cycles.
• Strong skills in:

Test case design

Defect tracking

Test reporting

Troubleshooting and debugging

• Working knowledge of:

Test management tools: JIRA, LambdaTest (or similar)

SQL & basic DB validation

• Strong analytical mindset to evaluate testing builds and execution reports.
• Excellent communication skills with high attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving, documentation, and organizational abilities.

Good to Have (SDET Edge)

• Experience testing applications built using:

Ruby on Rails (Backend)

React.js (Frontend)

Kotlin (Android)

Swift (iOS)

• Exposure to:

API Automation

Performance testing concepts

Cloud-based testing environments

• Understanding of Jenkins pipelines and automation triggers.

Educational Qualification

• B.Tech/M.Tech in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
