Social Worker

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide daily supervision, counseling, and emotional support to shelter residents.
• Assist elderly and vulnerable individuals in daily activities, including hygiene, meals, and social interactions.
• Coordinate with medical professionals for regular health check-ups and emergency care.
• Facilitate social and recreational activities to improve residents' quality of life.
• Ensure adherence to shelter rules and maintain a safe, clean living environment.
• Document and report residents’ health and well-being updates to the management.
• Work closely with caregivers, nurses, and other staff to ensure holistic care.
• Assist in rehabilitating and reintegrating residents with families or community-based programs.
• Handle crisis situations with empathy and professionalism.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field, with a focus on mental health counseling or clinical social work.
• Prior experience in geriatric care, mental health care, and working with diverse populations, preferably in a nonprofit or community-based setting.
• Must be willing to stay at the shelter and be available for residents’ needs.
• Strong assessment, counseling, and crisis intervention skills, with knowledge of trauma-informed care and culturally competent practices.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills, with the ability to build rapport and empower clients to achieve their goals.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems.
