Position Overview

hands-on, senior-level Snowflake Administrator / Engineer

remote, offshore contract role

Key Responsibilities

Snowflake Administration

• Manage and maintain the Snowflake SaaS environment, including user roles, security, data sharing, and integrations.
  
• Monitor and optimize system performance for reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  
• Administer Snowflake components such as

  SnowSQL, Snowpipe, Tasks, and Streams

  .
• Oversee data ingestion, transformation, and loading pipelines.
  
• Configure and manage

  SSO (Single Sign-On)

  and

  IAM

  integrations with AWS.

Security, Governance & Compliance

• Implement and maintain best practices for

  data access controls, encryption, auditing, and governance

  .
• Define and enforce data privacy, masking, and secure data sharing policies.
  
• Collaborate with IT and InfoSec teams to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
  

Integrations & Automation

• Maintain integrations with

  Prefect, dbt

  , and

  Python-based workflows

  .
• Automate key administrative tasks such as

  user provisioning, warehouse scaling, and monitoring

  .
• Partner with data engineers and analysts to streamline data operations and workflow orchestration.
  

Cost Optimization & Performance

• Monitor

  credit usage and storage costs

  , identifying opportunities for optimization.
• Analyze query patterns and workloads to enhance performance and resource utilization.
  
• Deliver ongoing insights, dashboards, and reports on system performance and efficiency.
  

Development & Support

• Support teams with

  SQL development, schema design, and query performance tuning

  .
• Troubleshoot and resolve Snowflake-related issues in data pipelines.
  
• Contribute to

  architecture improvements

  and adoption of new Snowflake features.

Qualifications

Required

• Proven, senior-level experience in

  Snowflake administration and engineering

  .
• Deep expertise with

  SnowSQL, Snowpipe, Tasks, Streams, Roles, and Resource Monitors

  .
• Strong experience with

  AWS ecosystem

  (IAM, S3, Glue, etc.) and Snowflake deployment via AWS Marketplace.
• Proficiency in

  SQL, Python, and dbt

  .
• Experience managing

  SSO integration

  and identity management in Snowflake.
• Familiarity with

  Prefect, Airflow

  , or similar orchestration tools.
• Strong understanding of

  data governance, security controls, and cost optimization

  within Snowflake.

Preferred

• Experience implementing

  CI/CD

  for data pipelines.
• Knowledge of

  broader AWS integration services

  with Snowflake.

• SnowPro Core or Advanced Certification

  preferred.
