About Us The Sleep Company is a leader in providing seamless and innovative e-commerce experiences. We are looking for a skilled SDE2 - Shopify professional who can develop, customize, and maintain Shopify stores to ensure high performance, seamless user experience, and business growth. Position Overview As an SDE2 - Shopify Developer , you will be responsible for developing Shopify themes, customizing existing templates, integrating third-party apps, and optimizing store functionality. You should have a deep understanding of Shopifys platform, APIs, and Liquid templating language. The ideal candidate should be proactive in improving UX/UI design, debugging performance issues, and ensuring smooth operation across all e-commerce functionalities. Key Responsibilities Shopify Development & Customization Develop, customize, and maintain Shopify themes and templates to align with business requirements. Convert mockups and specifications into fully functional Shopify stores . Implement custom Shopify apps or integrate third-party applications to enhance store performance. Modify and optimize existing websites for improved UX/UI design, speed, and performance . Work with Liquid templating and Shopify’s theming system to create engaging online experiences. Technical Development & Integration Ensure smooth integration with Shopify Apps, marketing tools, and APIs . Work with Shopify Plus, Storefront API, AJAX API, and custom scripts to enhance website capabilities. Debug, optimize, and test Shopify stores for enhanced performance and security . Develop custom solutions for checkout, cart, and other store functionalities. Ensure cross-browser compatibility and responsive design across all devices. Collaboration & Maintenance Work closely with UI/UX design teams to create seamless user journeys. Support the marketing and operations team in implementing growth-driven store improvements. Provide technical support to resolve issues and prevent operational failures. Stay updated with Shopify’s latest features, updates, and best practices . Qualifications & Skills Technical Skills: 4-7 years of professional experience in Shopify development. Strong understanding of Shopify objects, Meta fields, and AJAX API . Proficiency in JavaScript (ES6), jQuery, HTML5, CSS3, and DOM manipulation . Experience with Liquid templating and Shopify’s theming system . Familiarity with Shopify Plus and Storefront API . Debugging skills and experience using browser console and developer tools . Strong understanding of Shopify checkout, cart, and payment gateway customization . Preferred Skills (Bonus Points): Experience working with headless Shopify architecture . Understanding of SEO optimization for eCommerce . Experience with React.js, Vue.js, or other modern JavaScript frameworks . Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for Shopify deployments . Additional Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Ability to work with third-party APIs, services, and Shopify plugins . Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and take ownership of Shopify projects.
