Site Foreman

A shuttering foreman supervises a team of carpenters and laborers to ensure the correct and safe construction, installation, and dismantling of formwork for concrete structures. Key duties include planning daily schedules, interpreting blueprints, inspecting work for quality and safety, managing materials, and coordinating with other site personnel.

Responsibilities

• Team leadership:

  Lead, train, and manage a team of shuttering carpenters and laborers.

• Planning and scheduling:

  Create daily work schedules for shuttering activities to meet project deadlines and targets.

• Blueprint interpretation:

  Read and interpret construction blueprints to ensure accurate formwork installation and alignment.

• Quality control:

  Inspect and verify that formwork is correctly installed, level, and meets all dimensional specifications and quality standards.

• Safety enforcement:

  Ensure all safety regulations and protocols are followed on-site and monitor for potential hazards.

• Material management:

  Monitor and control the wastage of shuttering materials, maintain inventory, and ensure materials are repaired or replaced as needed.

• Coordination:

  Coordinate with site engineers, project managers, and other supervisors to integrate shuttering work with other trades like MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing).

• Dismantling and storage:

  Oversee the safe and efficient removal, storage, and reuse of formwork elements.
