A site engineer in civil construction oversees the day‑to‑day on‑site activities to ensure projects are built safely, on time, and within budget. Key duties include:
- Reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Supervising labor, equipment, and subcontractors, and checking that work meets quality standards.
- Conducting inspections, preparing progress reports, and resolving technical issues that arise.
- Managing materials, coordinating deliveries, and controlling cost‑related aspects.
- Ensuring health‑and‑safety regulations and environmental guidelines are followed.
