Job Description

As a Senior Signal Processing Engineer with a Doctoral Degree in Signal Processing, Acoustics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field, your role at Altair will involve joining advanced sensing R&D initiatives focusing on object detection, classification, and high-accuracy positioning using sophisticated, multi-sensor systems. **Role Overview:** You will be a key member of the team responsible for developing and refining algorithms for detection, recognition, and classification based on acoustic and optical sensor data. Your expertise in both classical and modern signal processing techniques will be crucial for optimizing algorithms for real-time performance on embedded and edge-compute platforms. **Key Responsibilities:** - Lead the development and refinement of algorithms for detection, recognition, and classification based on acoustic and optical sensor data. - Apply advanced signal processing methods such as LOFAR, DEMON, STFT, and spectral analysis techniques to real-world datasets. - Architect robust pipelines for time-frequency analysis, noise reduction, feature extraction, and statistical modeling. - Optimize algorithms for real-time performance on embedded and edge-compute platforms. - Mentor junior engineers and guide technical decisions across multidisciplinary teams. - Lead field experiments, evaluate performance under varied environmental conditions, and drive improvements based on empirical results. - Produce high-quality documentation, technical reports, and algorithm specifications. **Qualification Required:** - PhD (Doctoral Degree) in Signal Processing, Acoustics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field. - 5-12+ years of hands-on experience in advanced signal processing R&D. - Proven expertise in underwater-domain processing techniques including LOFAR, DEMON, STFT, spectral estimation, beamforming, matched filtering, parametric modeling, etc. - Strong proficiency in scientific programming (Python, MATLAB, C, C++, NumPy/SciPy). - Extensive experience with noisy, low-SNR data and real-world sensor imperfections. - Strong mathematical foundation in Fourier analysis, estimation theory, statistical signal processing, and detection theory. - Demonstrated ability to take algorithms from concept to validated deployment-ready implementation. - Excellent communication skills and ability to lead complex technical problem-solving. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with multidisciplinary teams, lead algorithmic design, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the development of cutting-edge signal processing algorithms for real-world applications.,
