Role Overview
The Shuttering Foreman will be responsible for planning, executing, and supervising all shuttering (formwork) activities across NV Infra's projects. This role ensures accurate execution of RCC formwork for slabs, beams, columns, walls, and foundations while maintaining safety, quality, productivity, and material efficiency. The foreman will coordinate closely with site engineers and other trades to meet project timelines and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Shuttering & Formwork Execution
- Supervise erection, alignment, leveling, and dismantling of shuttering/formwork systems.
- Execute slab, beam, column, wall, and foundation shuttering as per approved drawings and specifications.
- Ensure proper supports, bracing, staging, and formwork stability before concreting.
- Verify dimensions, levels, plumb, and line prior to concrete pouring.
Team Supervision & Coordination
- Lead and manage shuttering carpenters, helpers, and laborers on site.
- Allocate daily work targets and monitor productivity against planned outputs.
- Guide workers on correct shuttering methods, safe practices, and quality requirements.
- Coordinate with reinforcement, concreting, electrical, and plumbing teams to avoid delays.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce strict adherence to NV Infra safety standards and site safety rules.
- Conduct toolbox talks related to shuttering activities.
- Ensure proper use of PPE by all shuttering workers.
- Identify unsafe conditions and take immediate corrective action.
Quality Control
- Inspect shuttering works prior to concreting to avoid leakage, misalignment, or dimensional errors.
- Ensure good surface finish and compliance with project quality standards.
- Rectify shuttering defects promptly to prevent rework.
Material & Equipment Control
- Monitor usage of shuttering materials such as plywood, plates, props, clamps, and accessories.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, reuse, and maintenance of shuttering materials.
- Minimize material wastage and report damages or shortages to site management.
Progress Tracking & Reporting
- Update Site Engineer on daily progress, manpower deployment, and work completion.
- Highlight delays, site constraints, or manpower issues proactively.
- Support planning to achieve daily and weekly construction targets.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of RCC shuttering systems and execution techniques.
- Ability to read and understand structural drawings.
- Good leadership and manpower handling skills.
- Awareness of construction safety norms.
- Ability to work under tight timelines in active site conditions.
