Role Description

Were looking for an experienced Shopify developer who will, as part of our in-house development team, partner with the business to develop and maintain our e-Commerce websites.  Using the Shopify platform, themes and apps, you will drive the building and continuous improvement of our online stores to maximize conversion and customer experience.  You will be a self-starter who is motivated by owning their work and seeing things through to delivery. We need someone who is self-sufficient but also happy to work with others, but above all, we need the right personality fit within our team, with the right fit being communicative and able to switch from one day fixing bugs and doing tasks to the next day working on essential projects. You will be communicating directly with end-users to achieve the best possible results for features and projects that improve user experience.

Key Responsibilities

Development

• Build an interactive, engaging, competent Shopify store to boost sales and increase revenue.
• Design customizable Shopify themes and alter existing JAVA templates according to established benchmarks.
• Expertly manage and oversee all aspects of the eCommerce forum.
• Closely collaborate with UI (User Interface) and UX (User Experience) design teams to build strong, unique, and state-of-the-art user experiences.
• Develop seamless connections with platform APIs (Application Programming Interfaces), marketing tools, and Shopify apps to optimize the store for peak efficiency and functionality.
• Enhance store performance by regularly testing and debugging the website.
• Provide adequate technical support and quality assurance to keep the Shopify store running seamlessly.
• Boost conversions by properly optimizing the website.
• Awareness of implementation strategies to comply with Shopifys data protection requirements and broader UKs GDPR guidelines.
• Improve Core Web Vitals
• Sitemap Management
• Work on Schema scripts, Colour swatches, Canonical URL scripts
• Bug Fixing and Issue resolution
• Advanced site optimisation
• Adding new stores to the repository system

Skills / Experience

Essential

• You hold a bachelors degree in computer science, Computer/Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or an associated field.
• You have an expert-level understanding of Shopifys Admin System, including shop creation, launch, and management.
• You are proficient in CSS3, HTML5, JavaScript, and DOM.
• You have adequate knowledge of Liquid” for Shopify Themes and Shopify Stores.
• You have proven experience working with Shopify’s storefront APIs and custom themes.
• You possess prior experience working with third-party Shopify apps, including implementation and debugging.
• You have an in-depth understanding and expertise in jQuery, vanilla JavaScript, ES2015/ES6, and other trending JS frameworks.
• You have a working knowledge of AJAX API, Meta fields, and other objects/properties within Shopify.
• Using a browser console and other similar tools, you possess the top-notch ability to test and debug websites, specifically online stores.
• You have proven experience building responsive layouts for mobile and web.
• You understand various Shopify plugins as well as different third-party services and APIs.
• You have a full understanding of integrations and solutions like payment gateways, ERPs, shipping, and how a Shopify site communicates with such third parties.
• DevOps / VS Code – development support, troubleshooting, and training
