The Ship Mechanic is responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of the engineering plant, as directed by the First Engineer or Senior Second Engineer. Duties include assisting with preventive maintenance tasks outlined in the AMOS M & P system and ensuring all new installations meet USPH standards. The role requires familiarity with the names, functions, locations, and operation of engineering equipment and systems, as well as the proper use of tools, spares, firefighting, and safety equipment. The Ship Mechanic must use work permits and personal protective equipment appropriately and actively participate in safety drills, meetings, and other shipboard safety programs.

Qualifications

Minimum one year experience in large cruise vessels working as a Mechanic.
Two years experience as Repairman on large cruise vessels preferred.
Must have worked with Medium Speed marine diesel engines in a repair/maintenance capacity
General workshop fitting.
Must be proficient in the following skills: Welding (Electric), Gas (Mig), Tig.
Turning and all lathe work.
Fitting and general machining.
Fabrication including sheet metal work and pipe work.
Must have an above average command of the spoken and written English language.
Must be flexible and self motivated.
Must have the highest levels of honesty and integrity.
