Shift Manager Operations

Purpose/Objective

The Shift Manager is responsible for managing the data centre facility operations during their assigned shift, ensuring the smooth functioning of Data Center infrastructure, timely issue resolution, adherence to safety and compliance, and coordination with teams and vendors. The role involves proactive monitoring, incident handling, maintenance coordination, and SLA adherence, while working closely with the Site In-Charge to ensure uninterrupted operations.

1. A Shift Manager for a Data Center plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and management of the data centre during their assigned shift.
2. Overseeing the daily operations of the data centre during the assigned shift, ensuring all systems are functioning optimally.
3. Managing a team of technicians and engineers, providing guidance and support as needed.
4. Monitoring Electromechanical system performance, identifying and resolving any issues that arise.
5. Coordinating with other shift managers to ensure seamless transitions between shifts and consistent operations.
6. Implementing and enforcing data centre policies and procedures to maintain security and efficiency.
7. Follow all Safety and Compliance guidelines for any Maintenance Work / Breakdown work
8. Approving material movement requests raised by vendors, and customers.
9. Ensuring compliance with safety and security protocols, including physical security measures.
10. Responding to emergencies and incidents, taking appropriate actions to mitigate impact and restore normal operations
11. Maintaining accurate records of all activities and incidents during the shift, preparing reports for management review
12. Will take initiative to ensure that quality and efficiency standards are raised for all the equipment in the datacentre.
13. Act as the first escalation point for any operational or facility-related issues during the shift

Qualifications and Experience

1. Diploma / Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical / Mechanical /Industrial Stream with minimum 
2. 5-7 years of Operation experience
3. Strong understanding of data center operations, including network and system management.
4. Excellent leadership and team management skills.
5. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
6. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
7. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
8. Experience with data centre monitoring tools and software.
9. Knowledge of safety and security protocols for data centres.
