Sewage Network Engineer (with HDD Experience)

Position Overview

The Sewage Network Engineer will be responsible for planning, execution, and supervision of sewerage pipeline works, with a strong focus on trenchless technology Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) for river crossings, road crossings, and other critical stretches. The role involves end-to-end project management of sewer networks, including survey, design validation, laying, jointing, testing, and integration with Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) and pumping stations.

Key Responsibilities

Survey & Design Coordination

Conduct site surveys, route alignment, and feasibility assessments for sewer pipelines, especially HDD crossings.

Review and interpret network drawings, hydraulic designs, and alignment plans.

Provide design inputs and ensure constructability at site considering local soil, strata, and hydrological conditions.

Project Execution & HDD Supervision

Supervise HDD works including pilot drilling, reaming, pipe pulling, and mud circulation.

Ensure correct pipe material selection (DI, HDPE, RCC, etc.) as per IS/MoRTH/CPEEHO standards.

Manage trenching, shoring, pipe laying, jointing, manholes, and chamber construction.

Monitor HDD contractors for quality, safety, and productivity.

Quality & Testing

Ensure compliance with QAP and IS/MoRTH specifications.

Conduct hydro-testing, leakage testing, and commissioning of sewer lines.

Prepare method statements for HDD, trenching, dewatering, and reinstatement works.

Coordination & Documentation

Liaise with consultants, clients, and local authorities for approvals and inspections.

Coordinate with STP, pump house, and electro-mechanical teams for interface works.

Maintain as-built drawings, daily progress reports, and HDD bore logs.

EHS (Environment, Health & Safety)

Enforce safety procedures during HDD and trench works.

Ensure minimal disturbance to traffic, environment, and public utilities.

Implement measures for slurry management and proper reinstatement of roads/riverbanks.

Skills & Competencies

Strong technical knowledge of:

Sewerage networks, house connections, and manhole construction.

HDD methodology, HDD rig operations, drilling fluids, and bore tracking systems.

Pipe materials (DI K7/K9, HDPE PN grades, RCC NP classes).

Road restoration techniques as per municipal standards.

Problem-solving skills for alignment conflicts and utility crossings.

Team leadership and coordination with multi-disciplinary teams.

Proficiency in MS Project/Primavera for scheduling (preferred).

Qualifications & Experience

Education: B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Civil Engineering.

Experience: 4-12 years in sewerage network execution, with at least 2-3 years in HDD works.

Certifications: Trenchless Technology / HDD training preferred.

Work Location

Sewerage network projects across Northeast India (or as per company deployment).
