Service Engineer - Propulsion Mechanical

Job Overview:

Qualifications & Experience:

• B.E. / M.E. / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in the Maritime industry.
• Hands-on experience with propulsion systems, thrusters, steering gear, and gearboxes.
• Strong knowledge of propulsion products.
• Control system knowledge will be an added advantage.
• Experience with Kongsberg products preferred.

Travel

• Extensive travel whenever required.
• Prepared to travel on short notice.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Communicate with clients to determine needs and explain complex technical issues.
• Responsible for installation, inspection, and testing of machinery and equipment.
• Identify system malfunctions and escalate to technical support when needed.
• Execute tasks as per defined procedures and checklists.
• Conduct quality checks in coordination with Senior/Lead Engineer or Group Manager.
• Report service progress and debrief Department Manager post-completion.
• Maintain strong customer relationships while representing Kongsberg values.
• Provide online/remote product support to customers and backend support to service teams.
• Develop product knowledge through self-study and training to become a certified engineer.
• Comply with all safety policies and procedures; report any health and safety concerns.
• Ensure tools, materials, and equipment are secure, calibrated, and in good working order.
• Maintain professional appearance and conduct at all times.
• Complete all required documentation (Time Sheets, Expense Claims, Service Reports, etc.) punctually and accurately.
