Service Delivery Engineer

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineering and System Delivery (SRESD) Engineer at PhonePe, you will be an integral part of the cross-functional, centralized, and horizontal SRE - System Delivery team. Collaborating with other SRE teams, you will contribute to building various infrastructure services and overseeing routine production management tasks such as infrastructure scaling, database maintenance, and operating system vulnerability rollouts. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the seamless operation and scalability of PhonePe's production systems, guaranteeing uninterrupted services for users nationwide. This will involve owning the maintenance and operational activities of multiple services with diverse components and technologies, adhering to predefined Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Key Responsibilities: - Building and managing distributed systems like Galera, Nginx, Aerospike, ElasticSearch, and RMQ - Deploying operating system vulnerability patches to production systems - Conducting routine database maintenance operations - Creating and implementing proxy configurations for production systems - Recognizing the criticality of production infrastructure - Being available for night shifts and on-call rotations - Automating operational tasks as required - Simplifying complex operational tasks and developing SOPs - Providing guidance and mentorship to L1 Engineers Core Technical Skills Required: Minimum Qualifications: The ideal candidate for the Senior SRESD Engineer position should possess substantial hands-on experience in the following areas: - Linux CLI Tools for System Administration - Virtualization using kvm/qemu - Disk and LVM Management - System Services - Package Management - File Permissions - Crontab and Scheduling - DNS Concepts - Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Salt or Ansible - Database Concepts and Administration - Scripting with Bash and Python - Experience with MariaDB or similar Distributed Database Systems - Familiarity with Docker or similar Containerization technology - Working knowledge of Nginx or similar Proxy technology - Proficiency in GIT - Understanding of Networking Concepts - Experience with Linux-based Firewall - Basic grasp of HTTP and TLS Security - Ability to develop Python scripts for automation purposes - Exceptional Troubleshooting Skills Soft Skills: - Effective Interpersonal Communication Skills - Ownership and Leadership in Projects - Creation of Processes and SOPs - Managing Sensitive Production Changes - Mentorship Qualifications: - 5-9 years of robust hands-on experience in Linux/Unix System Administration Location: Bangalore Note: This role requires candidates to be available for on-call shifts on a rotational basis, covering 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.,
