Job Description

  • Design and set up reliable, high-availability server and storage systems (rack servers, blade servers, SAN, NAS, object storage) based on company needs and future growth.
  • Create and maintain clear documentation for hardware setup, maintenance steps, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Install, configure, and deploy new physical servers (Dell, HP, Cisco, Sun) along with operating systems like Windows Server or Linux.
  • Set up and manage enterprise storage systems (NetApp, EMC, Pure Storage, HPE, Dell), including LUN creation, zoning, and data replication.
  • Perform regular hardware checks, firmware upgrades, and patch updates to keep systems fast, secure, and stable.
  • Troubleshoot and fix complex hardware or performance issues related to servers, storage, fibre channel, iSCSI, network fabrics, and host connectivity.
  • Handle hardware lifecycle tasks such as planning capacity, replacing old hardware, and maintaining proper asset records.
  • Work with vendors for purchasing hardware, getting technical support, and handling escalation cases.
  • Use monitoring tools to track hardware health, performance, and capacity.
  • Ensure all server and storage setups follow company security rules and industry best practices.
  • Implement and regularly test disaster recovery and business continuity plans for the hardware environment.
  • Have strong knowledge of server components (CPU, RAM, RAID, power units) and virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM, OLVM).
  • Have expert understanding of storage technologies like Fibre Channel, iSCSI, storage protocols, and at least one major storage solution (NetApp, Dell/EMC, etc.).
  • Understand basic data-center networking concepts like TCP/IP, Ethernet, and Fibre Channel zoning
