Responsibilities
Informatica Test Engineer’s responsibilities generally include:• Requirements analysis: Understanding the functional requirements for data migration and integration projects and performing traceability and gap analysis.• Test planning and strategy: Defining the overall test strategy, designing test plans, and creating detailed test cases and scripts based on functional and technical specifications.• Test data management: Validating and manipulating test data to meet specific testing requirements.• Test execution: Executing manual or automated test cases to validate the ETL process. This includes verifying data integrity, accuracy, and completeness.• Regression testing: Implementing and executing regression test suites to ensure that new code or changes do not negatively impact existing functionality.• Defect management: Diagnosing problems, reporting defects with clear and detailed documentation, and tracking them through resolution.• Collaboration: Working closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, business analysts, and data architects, to understand data flows and resolve issues.• Reporting: Communicating test progress, issues, and risks to project stakeholders.• 8+ ETL expertise: Solid experience and a deep understanding of ETL concepts and data warehousing principles.• 5+ Informatica proficiency: Hands-on experience with Informatica tools, such as PowerCenter, Informatica Cloud (IICS), or Informatica Data Quality (IDQ).• 5+ Strong SQL skills: Ability to write and debug complex SQL queries for data validation and extraction.• 2+ Programming/scripting: Experience with scripting languages like Python is often required for test automation.
