Job Description

IBM Z GSI Solution Architects drive adoption of technology patterns for mainframe application and operations modernization. Therefore, all Solution Architects should be able understand, appreciate and advocate the hybrid, in-place modernization leveraging the latest software and hardware advancements and capabilities on IBM Z.As a Senior Solution Architect, you will have -

15+ years of industry experience with 5+ years of experience as a Solution Architect

Demonstrated expertise to engage with Clients /Partners and communicate effectively as a subject matter expert (SME) on IBM Z

Prior experience of working with a System Integrator and building solution offerings is a plus

Ability to learn and articulate the value of modernizing applications and operations on Mainframe and influence clients and Partners to embark on this journey

Experience in working with technologies and offerings around Data and AI, Security, Hybrid Cloud, DevOps and Cloud Native Application development, preferably on IBM Z platform.

Hands-on skills with technology to be able create demo assets and showcase to customers, conduct PoCs/PoTs, conduct enablement sessions etc.

Ability to collaborate with other parts of IBM to help GSIs embrace the hybrid, in-place modernization on IBM Z

Ability to engage with Senior Executives, Practice /Vertical Heads of the top GSIs of IBM and IBM Consulting to create valueproposition, content and assets to drive Mainframe skills, capabilities and expertise for client engagements.

Solution Architect for Z would primarily perform one or more of the following

Co-creation of solutions with GSI partners

Development of customizable solution offerings covering various SI personas

GSI consumable collateral, Frameworks, Accelerators etc. that are subsequently customized by SIs for their use.

Creation of Industry solution accelerators

Education / Enablement of GSIs with new solutions or new offerings.

Support GSIs during internal or client POCs

Support joint technical engagements with clients.

Required education Bachelor's Degree Preferred education Master's Degree Required technical and professional expertise

Proficiency with middleware such as Db2, IMS, CICS, MQ, WAS

Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, automation, and
orchestration tools

Understanding of AI/ML solutions, Python basics, data analytics and
data modernization strategies on IBM Z

Deep experience with IBM z/OS, z security (including RACF), z
networking, and Linux on z (RHEL, Ansible, z/VM)

Expertise in integrating applications and modernizing data
environments using APIs and microservices

Experience with enterprise automation, AIOps and observability tools

Good knowledge of OpenShift, Cloud and container technologies, Knowledge of IBM Cloud Paks is a plus.

Demonstrated communication skills in customer-facing environments at all levels (technical, business and executive leadership levels)

Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, stakeholders and ecosystem partners

Ability to lead architectural design, conduct workshops, and mentor junior architects and engineers
Preferred technical and professional experience

Hands on skills on Software Installation / Maintenance on System Z , System Administration, Performance Tuning tasks would be a plus.

Working knowledge of cloud services that are a key part of REST API driven integration architecture and administrative skills on cloud platforms preferred.
