Senior Quantity Surveyor

Purpose of the Role

The role is responsible for providing support to commercial planning for projects; tracking and reporting project costs and cash flows against budget; preparing, submitting, and tracking monthly progress claims to client; preparing procurement schedules; sub-contractor evaluation and preparation of contracts in conjunction with project teams with the objective minimizing financial cost, maximizing financial recovery and limiting contractual and commercial exposure to dispute.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze project revenues and costs against forecasts.
• Oversee accurate and timely entry of cost details into the project cost control system.
• Prepare monthly progress reports and highlight deviations.
• Support external audit teams with documentation.
• Coordinate with collections and finance teams for timely payments.
• Prepare project cash flow reports and assist with corrective actions.
• Assist with preparation, submission, and monitoring of monthly progress claims to clients.
• Prepare documentation for additional claims and variations.
• Assist with procurement schedules and sub-contract tender packages.
• Evaluate sub-contractors and prepare contract agreements.
• Monitor sub-contractor performance and highlight issues.
• Assign and supervise tasks of subordinates; mentor and train junior staff.
• Conduct assessments/interviews for QS candidates as needed.
• Perform quantity take-offs and checks for tenders and projects.
• Support the estimating team and ensure proper communication with project teams.
  

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Civil Engineering, or related field.
• 12+ years total work experience, with 5-10 years in contracting projects of similar size/complexity.
• Strong knowledge of the construction industry and legal aspects relevant to contracting.
• Excellent planning and time management skills.
