The Role

As a Senior Automation QA Engineer, you'll lead our quality automation, designing scalable frameworks using Playwright in an AI-first approach. This is a high-ownership position split evenly: 50% hands-on work building and optimizing tests, and 50% mentoring junior testers to become deeply proficient in Playwright, empowering them to orchestrate complex systems independently. You'll evangelize a strong culture of quality that comes naturally to you, passionately bringing stakeholders along to appreciate and invest in robust testing practices. We're in-office 5 days a week in Koramangala to enable seamless teamwork and quick iterations—non-negotiable for our culture.

What You'll Do

- Architect and maintain end-to-end automated frameworks with Playwright (JavaScript/TypeScript), incorporating AI methods like Playwright MCP and internal processes.

- Implement Page Object Model (POM) for maintainable test code; own strategies for UI, API, and database testing.

- Design API tests with tools like Postman or REST-assured; build SQL queries for backend validation.

- Integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions/Jenkins) and monitor coverage, flakiness, and stability.

- Collaborate on test plans, perform exploratory/regression testing, and troubleshoot failures across layers.

- Dedicate 50% of your time to mentoring junior QA members, guiding them to master Playwright and orchestrate advanced testing systems for self-sufficiency.

- Evangelize a passionate culture of quality, naturally inspiring teams and bringing stakeholders along to value and support high standards.

- Explore AI tools for test generation, defect prediction, and efficiency gains.

- Advocate shift-left testing and stay ahead on trends in automation, AI in QA, and CI/CD.

What You Bring (Non-Negotiables)

- 5-10 years in automation testing or engineering, with at least 5 years of recent, provable Playwright experience in web-based SaaS products.

- Proven expertise deploying testing processes, including scalable frameworks with POM and integration into CI/CD.

- Strong track record mentoring junior testers in Playwright and related stacks (JavaScript/TypeScript, API tools, SQL).

- Proficiency in Git, Agile/Scrum, debugging, and cloud environments (AWS preferred); familiarity with reporting tools like Allure.

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field preferred.

- Currently based in Bangalore with a short and reasonable commute to Koramangala—ready to start within 30 days (no relocations).
