Job Title: Senior Playwright Engineer

Location: Chennai

Work Type: Hybrid

Position Description:

• This Senior Playwright Engineer role is crucial in building and maintaining our end-to-end automated testing framework for our flagship e-commerce application.
• The application utilizes a Next.js framework for the frontend and interacts with backend REST APIs.
• You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our platform by designing, developing, and executing comprehensive automated tests covering the entire user journey, from the client-side interactions within the Next.js application to the backend REST API calls.

This includes, but is not limited to:

• Deep understanding of testing Next.js applications, including handling dynamic routing, server-side rendering (SSR), and client-side rendering (CSR).
• Experience with testing features specific to Next.js (e.g., API routes).

REST API Interaction:

• Extensive experience testing REST APIs using Playwright's built-in capabilities or integrating with other testing tools.
• This includes validating API responses, handling authentication, and mocking API calls when needed.

User Account Management:

• Testing user registration, login, password recovery, profile management, and account settings, verifying interactions with both the Next.js frontend and the relevant backend APIs.

Product Catalog Navigation:

• Testing the ability to browse and search for products, filter and sort results, and view product details, ensuring seamless integration between the Next.js frontend and the product catalog API.

Shopping Cart Functionality:

• Testing adding products to the cart, updating quantities, removing items, applying coupons, and calculating the total cost, validating interactions with both the cart's Next.js frontend and the backend cart API.

Experience Required:

• Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in software testing and automation

Experience Preferred:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in software testing and automation, with at least 3 years of experience using Playwright (or a similar end-to-end testing framework like Cypress or Selenium).
• Deep understanding of software testing methodologies (e.g., BDD, TDD) and best practices.
• Expertise in JavaScript (and ideally TypeScript) and related testing frameworks.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI) and their integration with testing frameworks.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical challenges.
