Background of The Hans Foundation

The Hans Foundation (THF), established in 2009, is a Public Charitable Trust that
works towards creating an equitable society to enhance the quality of life for all through the empowerment of marginalized and underprivileged communities in India. The Hans Foundation works for the Health and well-being of remote and under-served groups, with an additional focus on children, persons with disabilities, and women. THF also works for holistic Education and Livelihood development of our communities. Our Two-Fold Strategy involves identifying and working within Aspirational Districts and High Poverty Index in the North, North-East, and East regions within specific states, as well as catering to lower-income and migratory populations in cities, through urban programs.
Over its 15 years of existence, THF has reached more than 35 million beneficiaries through its programs. THF works with communities through the direct implementation of projects on the ground in addition to providing local management and monitoring support to not-for-profit organizations in India funded through THF USA and RIST.

believing in this approach, The Hans Foundation has been supporting a number of projects to facilitate the early years of development. It provides supportive services to children and adult with disabilities who more often lack access to the comprehensive and intensified services in those magical years of development and also needed across the lifespan. This approach dramatically improves individual s chances to reach their full potential and functioning, have better quality of life and take up their right place in the society as adults. The Hans Foundation is creating more such facilities and services in the country to reach the last mile of targeted community while aiming to achieve the goal

This project would be operated from a Centre established for providing array of services: assessment and diagnosis, early intervention, neuro developmental therapies, healthcare and rehabilitation, multidisciplinary interventions which is part of our broader effort to improve the lives of all children and adults with disabilities and to support reforms in the social system. The project will facilitate PWDs in accessing the disability certificate, Govt schemes, assistive aids and appliances and others benefits provided by the government. The project will provide services to all disabilities across all age group.

Working days & Timings: Monday - Saturday (2nd Saturdays off)
Timings - 09:00am to 06:00 pm

1. JOB PURPOSE
Hans Child Development Centre provides multidisciplinary services to children with special needs, including Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Speech & Language Impairment, Locomotor Disabilities, Down Syndrome, ADHD, and other developmental disabilities.
The HOD Occupational Therapy will lead the Occupational Therapy department,
overseeing assessments, intervention planning, and therapy delivery for children with sensory-motor, cognitive, and functional challenges. This role involves ensuring high-quality therapeutic services, mentoring junior therapists, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team, and empowering families to promote children s independence in daily activities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Lead and supervise the Occupational Therapy team to ensure effective service
  • delivery.
  • Conduct and oversee comprehensive assessments and prepare assessment reports.
  • design and implement individualized occupational therapy intervention plans.
  • Facilitate skill development in self-care, school readiness, handwriting, play, and social participation.
  • Provide therapy to improve coordination, balance, strength, and daily living skills.
  • Develop sensory integration programs tailored to individual child needs.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (special educators, physiotherapists, and speech therapists, psychologists) to ensure holistic care.
  • Educate and coach parents/caregivers on home-based therapy activities and adaptive strategies.
  • Document and monitor progress, revising intervention plans as required.
  • Plan and review monthly and quarterly goals for children receiving occupational therapy.
  • Organize training sessions for staff and parents on occupational therapy techniques.
  • Ensure adherence to ethical and professional standards in therapy delivery.

2. Other Indicative Requirements

Educational Qualifications

Bachelor s or Master s Degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognized institution.

Functional / Technical Skills and Relevant

Experience & Other requirements (Behavioral, Language, Certifications etc.)

Minimum 5 years of experience in pediatric occupational therapy, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role. Experience in working with children with
developmental disabilities is essential.

Mandatory: Registration with a recognized Occupational

Therapy Council (as per applicable norms).

  • Strong expertise in pediatric occupational therapy
  • and sensory integration.
  • Leadership and mentoring skills for guiding a team of therapists.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with children, families, and professionals.
  • Strong documentation, planning, and reporting skills.
  • Empathy, patience, and a child-centered approach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework.
