L2 Network Engineer Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily network monitoring, incident management, and troubleshooting.
  
• Handle LAN, WAN, and VPN-related issues at the L2 level.
  
• Support configuration and maintenance of Palo Alto and Cisco ASA firewalls.
  
• Escalate complex issues to L3 engineers when required.
  
• Ensure SLA adherence and maintain accurate documentation of network activities.
  

L3 Network Engineer – Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Mentoring

• Lead and mentor the L2 team, ensuring adherence to operational standards and best practices.
  
• Provide guidance on advanced troubleshooting and network design.
  

Advanced Troubleshooting & Escalations

• Act as the primary escalation point for complex network and firewall issues.
  
• Troubleshoot and resolve advanced LAN, WAN, VPN, and routing problems.
  

Network Design & Implementation

• Design, configure, and deploy network upgrades or expansions.
  
• Plan network topology, capacity, and optimization strategies.
  

Performance Monitoring & Optimization

• Monitor network performance using tools such as SolarWinds, Nagios, or PRTG.
  
• Identify bottlenecks and implement performance improvements.
  

Security & Compliance

• Configure firewalls, VPNs, and ACLs per security best practices.
  
• Collaborate with security teams for incident response and vulnerability mitigation.
  

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain detailed network documentation, diagrams, and IP addressing records.
  
• Provide regular network health and performance reports.
  

Key Attributes

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  
• Hands-on experience with firewalls and routing protocols
  
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities (for L3)
