Role & responsibilities

Senior Manufacturing

Key Responsibilities

1. Process Engineering & Optimization

  • Develop, maintain, and improve manufacturing processes for coil winding, core stacking, insulation, assembly, tank fabrication, and oil processing.
  • Analyze process performance and implement improvements to reduce cycle time, scrap, and rework.
  • Ensure processes meet technical specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements.

2. Technical Production Support

  • Provide hands-on engineering support to troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
  • Lead root-cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions for nonconformities, failures, and test deviations.
  • Support operators and supervisors with technical guidance and training.

3. Equipment, Tooling & Automation

  • Specify, evaluate, and implement machinery, tooling, and fixtures required for manufacturing (e.g., winding machines, core-lifting fixtures, insulation tools, robotic systems).
  • Improve equipment reliability and capability in coordination with Maintenance.
  • Lead automation and modern manufacturing technology initiatives.

4. Quality & Standards Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to IEC, IEEE, ANSI, and customer-specific technical requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits and prepare technical documentation.
  • Work with Quality Engineering to define inspection criteria and improve defect detection.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Design Engineering to ensure manufacturability of new transformer designs.
  • Participate in design reviews, advising on DFM (Design for Manufacturability).
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain,Testing, QA, and Operations on daily and strategic projects.

6. Continuous Improvement & Lean Manufacturing

  • Lead Lean, 5S, Kaizen, and waste-reduction initiatives across the plant.
  • Drive process standardization and documentation of best practices.
  • Support cost-reduction initiatives through material, design, and process optimization.

7. Project Leadership

  • Manage technical projects such as new production line deployment, equipment upgrades, and manufacturing capability expansion.
  • Prepare project plans, cost estimates, and timelines.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.

  • 58+ years of experience in power transformer manufacturing or heavy electrical equipment manufacturing.

  • Strong knowledge of transformer components, winding methods, insulation systems, assembly processes, and HV testing.

  • Proven experience in process improvements, tooling development, and troubleshooting.

  • Proficiency with CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo) and ERP systems.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with large power transformers.

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Hands-on experience with robotics or automation is a plus.
