Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Manager - College Counseling to lead our undergraduate admissions advisory team and drive exceptional outcomes for our students. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in global university admissions, a strong understanding of student psychology, and the ability to mentor a team of counselors while maintaining direct engagement with high-potential students and parents.This role demands a balance of strategic leadership, operational excellence, and hands-on counseling, ensuring that every student receives world-class guidance on their academic and career pathways.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Team Management:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of admissions counselors to deliver high-quality, personalized student guidance.
  • Define and implement counseling frameworks, best practices, and performance metrics for the team.
  • Collaborate with leadership to set annual counseling goals, monitor outcomes, and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Conduct regular training sessions on evolving global admissions trends, essay strategies, and student engagement techniques.
  • Student Counseling & Admissions Strategy:
  • Personally counsel high-profile or complex student cases, guiding them through university shortlisting, application strategies, and essay development.
  • Oversee the quality of all application materials, ensuring students present strong, differentiated profiles aligned with target university expectations.
  • Advise students on standardized tests (SAT, ACT, APs), academic planning, and extracurricular strategy to strengthen applications.
  • Guide students on scholarship opportunities, financial aid processes, and international application systems (Common App, UCAS, OUAC, etc.).
  • Parent & Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to parents, maintaining consistent communication and offering insights on student progress, readiness, and admission timelines.
  • Partner with marketing and communications teams to conceptualize and deliver high-impact webinars, workshops, and university info sessions.
  • Represent the organization in parent meetings, school partnerships, and educational forums to strengthen brand credibility.
  • Research, Insights & Process Excellence:
  • Lead ongoing research on global university trends, evolving admission requirements, and new academic programs.
  • Ensure robust data management and documentation of student journeys, application progress, and outcomes through CRM tools.
  • Drive innovation in counseling methods by integrating analytics, feedback mechanisms, and data-driven insights.
  • Encourage student participation in top-tier academic and extracurricular competitions such as the John Locke Essay Competition and Math Olympiads.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Psychology, Liberal Arts, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in university admissions counseling or higher education advisory, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of guiding students toward successful admissions at top global universities.
  • Strong communication, mentoring, and interpersonal skills with a student-first mindset.
  • Excellent writing and editing abilities for reviewing applications and essays.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, G Suite, and CRM/ERP tools.
  • Ability to multitask, manage timelines, and thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
